Welcome!
Springtime means an opportunity for us to enjoy the few short weeks of really beautiful weather here in Houston, right? The sneezing and coughing from all the pollen is worth venturing outside to see the wildflowers growing alongside the roads.
Growth and beauty are the order of the day in the church as well. We read the story of the Easter church in that book of the Bible called “The Acts of the Apostles”:
The believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the community, to their shared meals, and to their prayers. A sense of awe came over everyone. God performed many wonders and signs through the apostles. All the believers were united and shared everything. They would sell pieces of property and possessions and distribute the proceeds to everyone who needed them. Every day, they met together in the temple and ate in their homes. They shared food with gladness and simplicity. They praised God and demonstrated God’s goodness to everyone. The Lord added daily to the community those who were being saved. (2:42-47)
Unity, servanthood, demonstrating God’s goodness. That sounds like something to celebrate! A church I want to be a part of. We haven’t quite reached the stature of those early believers, but we are on the path of being a transformative part of our city and community through the power of God’s great salvation.
I’m glad that you’ve found the online home of Mission Bend United Methodist Church. I hope you’ll join us in person for worship in this Easter season, as we celebrate the God who is alive and working in the world for new life.
Grace and Peace,
Rev. Josh Hale
