AUGUST 2017 MBUMC FOCUS PRAYER
You are invited to join the Prayer Ministry team in praying this prayer.
Invest in truth and wisdom, discipline and good sense, and don’t part with them. Proverbs 23:23 Contemporary English Version
Lord, in your word you have said, “Blessed are those whose lives have integrity, those who follow the teachings of the Lord.” Lord, we are blessed when we follow your directions, doing our best to find you. Keep us from going off on our own; we desire to walk straight along the road you have set. You, God, have prescribed the right way to live; now you expect us to live it. Oh, that my steps might be steady, keeping to the course you set; then I’d never have any regrets in comparing my life with your counsel. I thank you for speaking straight from your heart; I learn the pattern of your righteous ways. (Psalm 119:1-7 God’s Word/Message)
God, I’m not trying to rule the roost, I don’t want to be king of the mountain. I haven’t meddled where I have no business or fantasized grandiose plans. I’ve kept my feet on the ground; I’ve cultivated a quiet heart. Like a baby content in its mother’s arms, my soul is a baby content. Wait, Israel, for God. Wait with hope. Hope now; hope always. (Psalm 131, Message)
If you wake me each morning with the sound of your loving voice, I’ll go to sleep each night trusting you. Point out the road I must travel; I’m all ears, all eyes before you. Save me from my enemies, God – you’re my only hope! Teach me how to live to please you, because you’re my God. Lead me by your blessed Spirit. (Psalm 143:8-10a, Message)
Lord, we thank you for teachers and helpers, for Sunday school, Mission Bend Christian Academy, and community schools. God, we are small children, growing children and seasoned children in your kingdom. Encourage us in your truth and wisdom, in discipline and good sense. Help us to gather strength and our best efforts to learn your word and your way. Help us to keep our thoughts on what is right or deserves praise; things that are true, honorable, pure, fair, acceptable or commendable. (Philippians 4:8 God’s Word) In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Lead me, Lord, lead me in your righteousness; Make thy way plain before my face. For it is thou, Lord, thou Lord only, that makes me to dwell in safety.
