AUGUST 13, 2017 during 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. in the church courtyard – weather permitting.
We are planning a very special day to honor the children and youth of MBUMC. This past year, the children have worked diligently in their Sunday School classes. We are very proud of them and want to recognize their work and celebrate the Word of God in their hearts and souls.
Therefore, we have a very special time set aside called a Baccalaureate Sunday. Historically, this tradition began in Oxford in 1432, then brought to the U.S. via Princeton University, and now often celebrated in many institutions. It is a Christian-based ceremony usually held the Sunday before Promotion Sunday and is for encouraging and praying for those who will be transitioning into a new season of hope and love in God.
The service with a guest speaker, prayers, music, the blessing of the backpacks, and the Benediction. It doesn’t end there – we will come together after the service for a time of sharing and fellowship. We will be serving Danish’s and fruit punch at decorated tables and with an elegant atmosphere of honor and excitement for our young ones as they move on to the next grade in Sunday School. Please make plans to join us for a time set-apart to rejoice in our students’ God-given talents and endeavors. Parents and family are welcome to join in the celebration. The dress will be “Sunday-best” attire.
