As the newly appointed pastor of Mission Bend, I am excited about the family of God in Christ Jesus who worship at this campus. I have felt nothing but the genuine love of Jesus Christ upon my arrival early in July. This place is buzzing with joy and excitement as we explore together what it means to make God known through genuine affirming relationships with people from all walks of life. The bolded vision statement of the church represents for us loving God by loving people.
Henry Ford once said, “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success”. John Wesley would say it this way: “Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.”
Both authors of penmanship offer us something to contemplate, to live into as we affirm relationships, genuinely with people from all walks of life in making God known.
As a pastor, people are the most important commodity we have on this earth. It is our responsibility to minister to needs of the people by praying, teaching, and offering them the sacraments of Holy Communion and baptism regardless of their backgrounds or social status. These acts of God’s grace and mercy are virtues by which we offer and show God to people. It is truly an honor to serve with the great people of Mission Bend in making God known in our community as God has made himself know to us in his Son, Jesus Christ. God gave us Jesus. John 3:16 says, God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him won’t perish but will have eternal life. (CEB)
Christ came among us, walked among us, loved among us, he died among us, but death could not hold him or his love from the world God created. For on third day, the Bible says, Jesus rose from the dead with all power in His hands. That proves God’s love towards and for us.
Because of what God has done for us, Mission Bend is on a mission to share the love of God in Christ Jesus, to help others know that God is real and to experience his greatness in their lives.
Our love is genuine at Mission Bend for God and others and we invite you to join us in worship or any activity that takes place on our campus. You will find us making God known and affirming relationships with all people from the north to the south, east to west. Come, be with us and find the joy that exuberates from our campus of love.
