APRIL 2016 MBUMC FOCUS PRAYER

Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.

(1 John 5:21 NLT)

Dear Heavenly Father,

We thank you for your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who came to teach us your Word and to reach us when we go astray.   Thank you for the fellowship of your Holy Spirit who came to confirm us and establish us in your truth.

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah, has become a child of God.  .  .  Since we believe human testimony, surely we can believe the greater testimony that comes from God.  And God has testified about his Son.  .  .  And this is what God has testified:  He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.  Whoever has the Son has life.  .  .  And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God.  And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ.  He is the only true God, and he is eternal life.  Dear children, let us keep away from anything that might take God’s place in our hearts. (1 John 5:1a, 9, 11-12a, 20-21 NLT) 

Lord, we thank you for the Confirmands who, through reading the Bible, study, discussion, exploration and service; may come to know for themselves your Word and your Way; your Love, your Companionship and your Grace.  Thank you for young seekers and seasoned seekers, as we each commit ourselves to the process that draws us closer to you.  Lord, bless us all in our journeys.  This we pray in the name of Jesus and for his sake, Amen.

Jesus, draw me close, closer, Lord, to you.  Let the world around me fade away.  Jesus, draw me close, closer, Lord, to you.  I desire to worship and obey.
