Come Together
A devotional about how we can Come Together now and in the future with God.
Video shared by Cstone Church via Youtube – Youth/Praise Ministry of Cornerstone Assembly in New Bern perform a Gospel version of the Beatles’ song “Come Together”. Easter Sunday April 12th, 2009.
SCRIPTURE:
And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair, “Come, gather together for the great supper of God.
—Revelation 19:19—
THOUGHT:
I had a great experience today. For the first time in almost six months, several adults from the church met “together” on Zoom for a Sunday School class. It was a small but mighty class and I appreciated seeing each and every face on the screen. Of course, not seeing other faces made me sad and I found myself thinking that I couldn’t wait until I could see everyone’s face again someday.
Although COVID 19 is still rampant and affecting our lives, I am beginning to see glimpses of normality. We are unable to go to church just yet, but at least we are starting now to gather together to keep in Gods’ Word. The situation makes my mind travel to the Book of Revelation. I don’t believe it is the end of the world just yet. The Bible tells us that if we “think” the world is coming to an end, it will not – we will not know when it will end. Yet, Revelation is about the end times when everything starts to change and go awry. The Good News about Revelation though is that although the earthly world will be approaching termination, we, as Christians, will be invited to gather together for The Lords’ Supper with our Savior Jesus Christ.
What will it be like? The song, “I Can Only Imagine” is one of my favorites!! I am typically not a shy or reserved person but I suspect that when I meet my Lord in Heaven someday, this loud-mouth, opinionated servant will be flabbergasted and moot. We read about Him and sing about Him and teach about Him and use many more ways of worshipping Him. When that day becomes a reality though, it will seem as if it is surreal. It will be what we have all been waiting for and prayed for all of our lives.
After we get over the initial shock (which I suspect will be thankfully many years due to the whole “eternity” aspect), we will also realize we are all now GATHERED TOGETHER. We will have eternity to see each other, hug each other, pray and worship together, and feast at His Table.
Can you imagine it? What are your thoughts about it? What do you think it will be like?
Yes, I despise this pandemic situation. More than I can express in words. When I get down though, I think about that day, and no one knows when it will be when we will all gather together at the foot of His Throne. Frankly, even though I don’t really know what it will entail, I am looking forward to it.
Please watch both the videos on this devotional. I couldn’t help thinking about the song “Come Together” – this is a great Christian rendition. Also, the song “I Can Only Imagine” is performed in ASL (sign language) by an acquaintance of mine. Her expression is amazing! Enjoy and May God Bless You and Keep You until we meet again and COME TOGETHER in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
