A Confidence Gained
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. (Psalm 56:3–4)
Read: As long as we’re living here on earth, we’ll be living in the challenges of a sinful world. The cares of the day can be overwhelming and scary. They can feel defeating. We find ourselves letting those cares drown out our confidence. We feel anxious. We may want to give up.
But Jesus’ words to his disciples are for us, too. He told them: “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Hear these words for you today.
Through Jesus’ death and resurrection, the lines of communication are fully open to you to talk with the Lord about anything troubling you. The torn curtain literally makes it possible for each of us to have that personal relationship. Jesus’ resurrection demonstrates the power of your Savior to work in your life.
Action: Pray the Bible verse above from Psalm 56 aloud—loud enough that you can hear your words as you speak them but not so loud as to interrupt others in this area. There may be several of you praying at the same time. Remember that the Holy Spirit will strengthen your faith and help you trust in God even at the times you feel weakest.
