. . . the Lord himself will give you a sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).
Isaiah 7:14 NLT
O come, O come, Emmanuel, and ransom captive Israel, that mourns in lonely exile here until the Son of God appear. (Hymn 211, v. 1) Thank you, God, for loving us so much that you gave your only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:15) Thank you for Immanuel, “God with us.”
O come, thou Wisdom from on high, and order all things far and nigh; to us the path of knowledge show and cause us in her ways to go. (v. 2) It is you, God, who gives wisdom; from you comes knowledge and understanding. (Proverbs 2:6)
It is you, God, who has brought us into union with Christ Jesus, and has made Christ to be our wisdom. (1 Corinthians 1:30)
O come, thou Root of Jesse’s tree, an ensign of thy people be; before thee silent rulers fall; all peoples on thy mercy call. (v. 4) Listen to us, O Shepherd of Israel; hear us, leader of your flock. Show us your strength; come and save us. (Psalm 80:1a, 3b)
Thank you, Lord, for those you have called to ministry and service in this flock here; especially Josh, Christie, Hilda, Carrie and Cindy, also Connie, Dan, Kathy, Alyssa and Terrie. Together, let us seek you, Lord, and find you in new and unexpected places in our lives. We rejoice in your coming, Immanuel. Thank you for coming to be our “God with us.” We pray in Jesus’ name, Amen
O come, Desire of nations, bind all peoples in one heart and mind.
From dust thou brought us forth to life; deliver us from earthly strife.
Refrain: Rejoice! Rejoice, Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.
