DECEMBER 2018 MBUMC FOCUS PRAYER
You are invited to join the Prayer Ministry team in praying this focus prayer.
For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 NKJV
Lord God Almighty, we enter this season of celebration with many things on our minds, many things on our calendars, and many things on our long lists of preparation. Help us, O God, to focus on the main thing: Love came down at Christmas. We want to be loved in our lives. Help us to seek first the amazing Love of God, that we might experience real love in this season. Let us be encouraged by your Word.
Long before Jesus was born, Isaiah was encouraging the people saying, “A child is born to us! A son is given to us! The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6 NLT)
See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! (1 John 3:1a NLT) Dear friends, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Whoever loves is a child of God and knows God. And God showed his love for us by sending his only Son into the world, so that we might have life through him. This is what love is: it is not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the means by which our sins are forgiven. (1 John 4:7, 9-10 GNT)
Love has come and never will leave us! Love is life everlasting and free. Love is Jesus within and among us. Love is the peace our hearts are seeking. Love! Love! Love is the gift of Christmas. Love! Love! Praise to you, God on high!
(Worship & Song 3059 verse 3, Love Has Come, words by Ken Bible, 1996)
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Love came down at Christmas, Love all lovely, Love divine;
Love was born at Christmas, star and angels gave the sign.
Worship we the God-head, Love incarnate, Love divine;
Worship we our Jesus, but where-with for sacred sign?
Love shall be our token; love be yours and love be mine;
Love to God and neighbor, love for plea and gift and sign.
