FEBRUARY 2021 MBUMC FOCUS PRAYER
You are invited to join the Prayer Ministry team in praying this month’s focus prayer.
God is my savior; I will trust him and not be afraid. The Lord gives me power and strength; he is my savior. As fresh water brings joy to the thirsty, so God’s people rejoice when he saves them. Give thanks to the Lord! Call for him to help you! (Isaiah 12:2-3,4a GNT)
Israel, the Lord who created us says, “Do not be afraid—I will save you. I have called you by name—you are mine. When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you. When you pass through fire, you will not be burned; the hard trials that come will not hurt you. For I am the Lord your God, the holy God of Israel, who saves you. …you are precious to me. I love you …Do not be afraid—I am with you! (Isaiah 43:1-3a, 4b-5).
Wake up, Lord, and help us! Use your power and save us; use it as you did in ancient times. …The Lord says, “I am the one who strengthens you. Why should you fear mortals, who are no more enduring than grass? Have you forgotten the Lord who made you, who stretched out the heavens and laid the earth’s foundations? Why should you live in constant fear of the fury of those who oppress you, of those who are ready to destroy you? … “I am the Lord your God; I stir up the sea and make its waves roar. My name is the Lord Almighty! I say to Jerusalem, ‘You are my people! I have given you my teaching, and I protect you with my hand.’” (Isaiah 51:9, 12-13,15,16b GNT)
Almighty God, we are living in difficult times. We thank you for the words of Paul saying, “Let us give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the merciful Father, the God from whom all help comes! He helps us in all our troubles, so that we are able to help others who have all kinds of troubles, using the same help that we ourselves have received from God.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4 GNT)
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Surely, it is God who saves me; I will trust in him and not be afraid.
For the Lord is my stronghold and my sure defense, and he will be my Savior.
