A Hope Secured
[Jesus] entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. (Hebrews 9:12)
Read: The Old Testament Israelites lived by many detailed laws, some of which included worship practices to remind them of their sins and their need for God’s forgiveness and to clear the way between them and God. Jesus came to fulfill the Law. He became the ultimate sacrifice so that our sins would be forgiven once and for all, eternally.
What does that mean for you? It means no detailed steps to go through in order to come to Jesus—only faith, trust in his life for yours. Do you feel the weight lifted from your shoulders? You are free; a free child of God. Your hope is secured . . . in Jesus.
Action: Read the words to this ageless hymn and know they are true for you.
My hope is built on nothing less
than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand;
all other ground is sinking sand,
all other ground is sinking sand.
When he shall come with trumpet sound,
O may I then in him be found,
Dressed in his righteousness alone,
faultless to stand before the throne.
On Christ, the solid rock, I stand;
all other ground is sinking sand,
all other ground is sinking sand.
