JANUARY 2018 MBUMC FOCUS PRAYER
You are invited to join the Prayer Ministry team in praying this prayer.
Then Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in darkness, but will have the Light of life. John 8:12 NASB/MSG “No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness. I provide plenty of light to live in.”
O Holy God, send out Your light and Your truth, let them lead me; Let them bring me to Your holy hill and to Your dwelling places. Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy; And I shall praise You, O God, my God. (Psalm 43:3-4 NASB) God you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before you in the light of life. (Psalm 56:13 NIV) Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. (Psalm 119:105 NIV)
As we begin a new year, let us each and every one consider carefully what God wants us to do. We thank you, Lord, for your holy word, a guidebook to show us your will and your way. God helping us, let us take our everyday, ordinary lives—our sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around-life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for us is the best thing we can do for Him. Let us not become so well adjusted to our culture that we fit into it without even thinking. Instead, let us fix our attention on God, that we may be changed from the inside out. Let us readily recognize what you want from us, and quickly respond to it. God, you bring the best out of us and develop well-formed maturity in us. (Romans 12:1-2 MSG)
Let us keep on doing those things that please God, not in a dogged religious plod, but in a living, spirited dance. You want us to live a pure life. (1 Thessalonians 4:1-3a MSG) That means to live a life set apart and dedicated to honor God, to serve his purposes and his people. Let us continue to rejoice always, pray continually and give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for us in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NIV) In Jesus’ name, Amen
Lord, the light of your love is shining, in the midst of the darkness shining;
Jesus, Light of the World, shine upon us, set us free by the truth you now bring us.
Shine on me, shine on me
Shine, Jesus, shine, fill this land with the Father’s glory,
Blaze, Spirit, blaze, set our hearts on fire;
Flow, river, flow, flood the nations with grace and mercy,
Send forth your Word, Lord, and let there be light.
