JUNE 2018 MBUMC FOCUS PRAYER
You are invited to join the Prayer Ministry team in praying this prayer.
Speaking to Jesus, Philip said, Lord, show us the Father. That is all we need.” (John 14:8 ERV)
Lord Jesus, we thank you for your love and compassion, your teaching and
preaching, your provision and your patience with us. As you answered Philip, you
also answer us saying, “You’ve been with me all this time, and you still don’t
understand. To see me is to see the Father. Don’t you believe that I am in the Father
and my Father is in me? The things I have told you don’t come from me. The Father
lives in me, and he is doing his own work. (John 14:9ab-10 MSG/ERV)
Jesus continues, “The person who trusts me will not only do what I am doing,
but even greater things, because I, on the way to the Father, am giving you the same
work to do that I’ve been doing. From now on, whatever you request along the lines
of who I am and what I am doing, I’ll do it. That’s how the Father will be seen for
who he is in the Son. Whatever you request in this way, I’ll do.(John 4:12-14 MSG)
“If you love me, you will do what I command. I will ask the Father, and he
will give you another Helper to be with you forever. The Helper is the Spirit of truth.
The people of the world cannot accept him, because they don’t see him or know him.
But you know him. He lives with you, and he will be in you.” (John 14:15-17 ERV)
The Helper will teach you everything and cause you to remember all that I told you.
The Helper is the Holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name.(John 14:26 ERV)
Lord, thank you for loving us so much and for choosing us to be your people.
Lord, when you bring us the Good News, we receive more than words. We receive
the Good News with power, with the Holy Spirit, and with the sure knowledge that it
is true. (1 Thessalonians 1:4-5a ERV) Every day and every way, fill our hearts and
minds, our speech and actions, to be more like Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
When we walk with the Lord in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will, he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus,
but to trust and obey.
