MARCH 2016 MBUMC FOCUS PRAYER
Please join the Prayer Ministry team in praying this prayer.
Then the ones who pleased the Lord will ask, “When did we give you something to eat or drink? When did we welcome you as a stranger or give you clothes to wear or visit you while you were sick or in jail?” The king will answer, “Whenever you did it for any of my people, no matter how unimportant they seemed, you did it for me.”
(Matthew 25:37-40 CEV)
Holy God, you say, “Comfort, comfort my people,” (Isaiah 40:1) and “Feed my lambs, Shepherd my sheep, feed my sheep,” (John 21:15-17 MSG). Though we may desire to do that, Lord, sometimes we don’t know how to begin. We thank you for your son, Jesus, and your Holy Word, which gives us help to walk in your Way.
Lord, you have told us what is good, and what you require of us: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with you. (Micah 6:8 NLT) Let us imitate you, God, in everything we do. Let us live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ, always offering our thanks and praise to you, God. Let us live as people of light, for this light within us produces only what is good and right and true. Then let us carefully determine what pleases you, Lord. (Ephesians 5:1, 2, 4b, 8b-10 NLT)
Lord, we thank you for the many opportunities you show us to reach out to members of this community of faith, people in our neighborhood and beyond. You have not called each of us to do everything, but to share with others the various gifts you have given us. We thank you for the ongoing work of Adult Ministries, Altar Guild, Backpack Brigade, Camping, Card Ministries, Children’s Ministries, Connecting Ministries, Grace Group, Hands of Grace, Missions, OPUS, Prison Ministries, Scouting, Vacation Bible School and West Oaks Geriatric Ministry. As we consider our spiritual gifts, Lord, we pray that you will lead us to mission and ministry in this community of faith and in our neighborhoods. All this we pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Refrain: Jesu, Jesu, fill us with your love, Show us how to serve the neighbors we have from you.
