MARCH 2021 MBUMC FOCUS PRAYER
You are invited to join the Prayer Ministry team in praying this month’s focus prayer.
These are the words of the Philosopher, David’s son, who was king of Jerusalem. (Ecclesiastes 1:1 NLT)
Everything that happens in this world happens at the time God chooses.
He sets the time for birth and the time for death,
the time for planting and the time for pulling up,
the time for killing and a time for healing,
the time for tearing down and the time for building.
4 He sets the time for sorrow and the time for joy,
the time for mourning and the time for dancing,
the time for making love and the time for not making love,
the time for kissing and the time for not kissing.
6 He sets the time for finding and the time for losing,
the time for saving and the time for throwing away,
the time for tearing and the time for mending,
the time for silence and the time for talk.
8 He sets the time for love and the time for hate,
the time for war and the time for peace.
9 What do we gain from all our work? I know the heavy burdens that God has laid
on us. He has set the time for everything. He has given us a desire to know the
future, but never gives us the satisfaction of fully understanding what he does.
12 So I realized that all we can do is be happy and do the best we can while we are
still alive. All of us should eat and drink and enjoy what we have worked for.
It is God’s gift. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-13 NLT)
Like the Philosopher, sometimes we struggle with negative and depressing thoughts.
10 The Philosopher tried to find comforting words, but the words he
wrote were honest. The sayings of wise men are like the sharp sticks that shepherds
use to guide sheep, and collected proverbs are as lasting as firmly driven nails.
They have been given by God, the one Shepherd of us all. (Ecclesiastes 12:10-11 GNT)
Thanks be to God for your Word. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen
1 Holy words long preserved for our walk in this world,
They resound with God’s own heart, Oh, let the Ancient words impart.
2 Words of Life, words of Hope, Give us strength, help us cope;
In this world, where e’er we roam, Ancient words will guide us Home.
