Born and raised in Hokendauqua, PA, Dr. Dan Kramlich joined the staff of MBUMC as a pianist in 1983, hired by the founding pastor, Rev. Bob Long. He accepted the post of music director in 1998. Active professionally in numerous areas of musical endeavors, Dr Kramlich has several degrees, including Piano Performance, a Master’s degree in Music Theory, and a doctorate in Music Composition. His Choral Study was with Dr. Pierce Getz at Lebanon Valley College, a Methodist College in Pennsylvania.
Additionally for the last 34 years, Dr. Kramlich has been full-time faculty at Houston Christian University (formerly Houston Baptist University), where he holds the position of Professor of Music. As a composer, his work includes a large output of art music for a wide variety of instruments and ensembles, including numerous compositions for two pianos, solo voice, chamber ensembles, etc. His major works include a commissioned work for the Arkansas Symphony, a full setting of the Catholic Mass for chorus and orchestra, and a setting of the Magnificat as well. His sacred choral works include numerous anthems for mixed choir, and over 25 pieces for handbells and piano (published by Hope Publishing).
Dan and his amazing wife, Ann Hoefer, have been married since 2013. He has three children (Lauren, Brent and Dawn) and two step-children (Tia and Breana) and looks forward to many more years of service to MBUMC!
