A Road Opened
A time to tear and a time to mend. (Ecclesiastes 3:7 NLT)
Read: This passage comes from a list of opposites in Ecclesiastes. Jesus was a man of opposites and unexpecteds. He came as a weak and helpless baby, but he is the King of all creation. He ministered to people seen as the dregs of society, but he brought them priceless gifts.
In his suffering and death, he tore down all barriers in our relationship with God and he mended that relationship for good. His limitless love for sinners such as us means that he will help us mend broken relationships in our lives today.
Action: Think of the people around you. Is there someone you need to talk to? someone with whom you need to open the road of communication? Resolve today to be present in that person’s life, to share Jesus’ love in a joy-restoring way, to mend your relationship with that person. Then act on your resolution.
Optional: set a reminder on your phone for a time in the future to check if you’ve followed through. Then ask the Holy Spirit to help you live out your resolution.
