You are invited to join the Prayer Ministry team in praying this prayer.
Open my eyes, so that I may see the wonderful truths in your law. (Psalm 119:18 GNT)
Holy Lord, we come to you in great hope and expectation, with praise and thanksgiving, as we seek your Word and your Way. We are blessed when we stay on course, walking steadily on the road revealed by you. We are blessed when we follow your directions, doing our best to find you. We pray that we won’t go off on our own, that we might walk straight along the road you have set before us. God, you prescribed the right way to live; now you expect us to live it. Oh, that our steps might be steady, keeping to the course you set; then we’d never have any regrets in comparing our lives with your counsel. Thank you for speaking straight from your heart, Lord; we learn the pattern of your righteous ways. We’re going to do what you tell us to do; don’t ever walk off and leave us. (Psalm 119:1-8 MSG)
O Lord, that we might be single-minded in pursuit of you; don’t let us miss the road signs you’ve posted. We’ve banked your promises in the vault of our hearts so we won’t sin ourselves bankrupt. We thank you and praise you, God; train us in your ways of wise living. We will transfer to our lips all the counsel that comes from your mouth; we delight far more in what you tell us about living than in gathering a pile of riches. We ponder every morsel of wisdom from you. We attentively watch how you’ve done it. We relish everything you’ve told us of life. We won’t forget a word of it. Be generous with us and we’ll live a full life; not for a minute will we take our eyes off your road. Open our eyes so we can see what you show us of your miracle-wonders. (Psalm 119:10-18 MSG)
Lord, help us to devote time and attention to your Word and your Way in the Bible, that we might carefully investigate your plans and your promises for our lives. We thank you for brothers and sisters in Christ who journey with us in this learning. Thank you for willing and gifted teachers and helpers in this journey. All this we pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Open my eyes, that I may see glimpses of truth thou hast for me;
Place in my hands the wonderful key that shall unclasp and set me free.
Refrain: Silently now I wait for thee, ready, my God, thy will to see.
Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit divine!
Hymn 454, verse 1 and refrain, words and music by Clara H. Scott, 1895
