2020 MBUMC FOCUS PRAYER
You are invited to join the Prayer Ministry team in praying this month’s focus prayer.
(Jesus said,) “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 NASB
Holy God, in this time of chaos, sickness and change, we need you every day. The book of Job is the story of a good man who suffers total disaster. Job’s friends could not help him. God does not give any answers to Job’s questions, but he does respond to Job’s faith by overwhelming him with a picture of his divine power and wisdom. Job then humbly acknowledges God as wise and great, and repents of the wild and angry words he had used.
Lord, give strength to hands that are tired and to knees that tremble with weakness. (Isaiah 35:3 GNT). You, Lord are the everlasting God. Please strengthen those who are weak and tired. Even those who are young grow weak. Those who trust in the Lord for help will find their strength renewed. They will rise on wings like eagles; they will run and not get weary; they will walk and not grow weak. (Isaiah 40:28-31 GNT)
Protect me, O God; I trust in you for safety. I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; all the good things I have come from you.” How excellent are the Lord’s faithful people! My greatest pleasure is to be with them. You, Lord, are all I have, and you give me all I need; my future is in your hands. How wonderful are your gifts to me; how good they are! I praise the Lord, because he guides me, and in the night my conscience warns me. I am always aware of the Lord’s presence; he is near, and nothing can shake me. (Psalm 16:1-3, 5-8 GNT)
“I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11 NLT).
May it be so, in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Lead me, Lord, lead me in thy righteousness, make thy way plain before my face.
For it is thou, Lord, thou Lord only that makes me to dwell in safety.
(Hymn 473, Psalms 5:8, 4:8)
